To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'meesenger' = '%APPDATA%\messenger.exe'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'meesenger' = 'messenger.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\SYSTEM\WINDOWS\autorunme.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\SYSTEM\WINDOWS\Desktop.ini
Malicious functions:
To bypass firewall, removes or modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List] '%WINDIR%\3aSFh.exe' = '%WINDIR%\3aSFh.exe:*:Enabled:meesenger'
Creates and executes the following:
- %APPDATA%\messenger.exe
- %WINDIR%\3aSFh.exe
Executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\netsh.exe firewall add allowedprogram 1.exe 1 ENABLE
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- %APPDATA%\messenger.exe
- %WINDIR%\3aSFh.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\SYSTEM\WINDOWS\autorunme.exe
- %APPDATA%\messenger.exe
Network activity:
Connects to:
- 'ma####ksa.no-ip.biz':6667
UDP:
- DNS ASK ma####ksa.no-ip.biz
Miscellaneous:
Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: 'Indicator' WindowName: ''
