To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'clfmon' = '<SYSTEM32>\clfmon.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\clfmon.exe
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
blocks execution of the following system utilities:
- Windows Task Manager (Taskmgr)
- Registry Editor (RegEdit)
Modifies file system:
Creates the following files:
- C:\clfmon.exe
- C:\Autorun.inf
- <SYSTEM32>\clfmon.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\clfmon.temp.ini
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\clfmon.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
- C:\Autorun.inf
- <SYSTEM32>\clfmon.exe
- C:\clfmon.exe
Deletes the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\clfmon.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
- C:\Autorun.inf
- <SYSTEM32>\clfmon.temp.ini
- C:\clfmon.exe
