To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'WindowsAlert' = '%WINDIR%\csrss.exe'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'WindowsAlert' = '%WINDIR%\csrss.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Boom.exe
Malicious functions:
Creates and executes the following:
- %WINDIR%\csrss.exe
Executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\reg.exe Add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Run" /v "WindowsAlert" /t REG_SZ /d %WINDIR%\csrss.exe /f
- <SYSTEM32>\reg.exe Add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Run" /v "WindowsAlert" /t REG_SZ /d %WINDIR%\csrss.exe /f
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- %WINDIR%\csrss.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Boom.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
Deletes the following files:
- %TEMP%\~DF93A7.tmp
Miscellaneous:
Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: '' WindowName: 'Windows Task Manager'
- ClassName: 'Indicator' WindowName: ''
